NEWS ROUNDUP

ACQUISITION: Transport Properties buys Laredo IOS. The company announced the purchase of a 1.86 acre trailer yard at 14710 Atlanta Drive in Laredo. The site is currently available for lease, contact Burke Scott.

ACQUISITION: ALMCOR and Cerberus buy two IOS in the UK. A JV between the firms spent 50 million pounds to acquire the 48-acre Leyland Business Park in Preston the 90-acre Melton Commercial Park in Melton Mowbray. The JV has 500 million pounds allocated to UK and Euro IOS projects. Contact Peter McCluskey, head of active value at ALMCOR.

TEXAS: Texas to invest $240 million into ports. Governor Greg Abbott announced that 31 port projects in Texas will begin receiving an estimated $240 million in state funds to improve facilities and bolster the state’s supply chains. The Port of Houston will undergo a dredging and widening project to allow for unrestricted two-way traffic of larger ships.

EV TRUCKS: Mercedes reveals long-haul electric truck. Yesterday, Mercedes-Benz Trucks announced the new eActros 600 (editor’s note: terrible name), which can travel 311 miles on a single charge while hauling up to 22 tons of cargo. The truck will be available later this year, and it will compete directly with Tesla’s battery-powered Semi which has already landed orders from Walmart and UPS.

PEOPLE MOVES: Brooke Birtcher Gustafson is new president of Birtcher Development. Congrats to Brooke, who has been with Birtcher since 2007 and served as managing director since 2017. She leads the firm’s West Coast alternative investment focus, including industrial outdoor storage and third-party asset management.
